Across genres, women make up approximately 20% of artists at festivals and in the wider industry. Women of colour often make up less than 10% and are almost invisible in headliner positions.
Driven by this imbalance, GRRRL was created to celebrate women, especially those from places of conflict and social injustice, and to provide a platform for them to create music on their own terms about the issues that matter to them.
